White House Down (2013) Synopsis :

White House Down opens with Emily Cale (Joey King) waking up to a breaking news alert that the President, James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx), is about to enter into negotiations with the World's major powers for a peace treaty with the Middle East. Emily looks out her bedroom window to spot choppers flying over the area.

In the helicopters, The President is traveling with his secret service Detail, Special Agent Carol Finnerty (Maggie Gyllenhaal) on their way back to the White House. President Sawyer requests that the pilot changes the route so they can fly over the Reflecting Pool next to the Lincoln Memorial. It is apparently a favorite side trip of President Sawyer. President Sawyer tells Finnerty a fact about Lincoln being the first president to be in favor for women's voting.

John Cale (Channing Tatum), is a U.S. Capitol officer, watching President Sawyer address the nation with a speech on how poverty is the biggest problem in this country, alluding to a story in which his mother made dinner.......

Plot: While on a tour of the White House with his young daughter, a Capitol policeman springs into action to save his child and protect the president from a heavily armed group of paramilitary invaders. Full summary »  »

Now, this seemed like the perfect summer blockbuster. Two huge stars,an expensive budget and a director with a knack for action. What couldgo wrong? By the end of it, instead of what could go wrong, you'll beasking yourself what went right. The answer....barely anything. WhiteHouse Down is not only dumb, it is downright idiotic. The plot ispreposterous, the action sequences sub par and the acting is atrocious.Channing Tatum does his best Bruce Willis impression while Jamie Foxxturns in the worst performance of his career. The supporting cast leadby Maggie Gyllenhaal saves the terrible leads and are the sole reason Iam not giving this a 1. Overall, this film is loud, long and boring, somuch so, I can't imagine any adult with a functioning brain to enjoythis. I highly recommend to stay away from this stinker. If you want agreat action film featuring the destruction of the White House, tuneinto Olympus Has Fallen.

White House Down offers very little that's new or interesting. It's aconvoluted mess that's caught in no man's land. It takes itself far tooseriously yet offers ridiculous action (ridiculous as in dumb, not asin wild or fun) and even more ridiculous characters. It wants to betaken seriously but functions in bizarre surroundings with a foolishplot. A calamity of underdeveloped ideas, half the film is flat outbrain damaged and the other half is pure schlock. Do yourself a favorand avoid this dumb and actually boring farce.

This movie simply can't stand on its own as a film. Does often joyless,dark and dumb appeal to even the popcorn crowds? The rest of us wantway more in our summer movies.

I will start with the pros. This movie is packed with excitement,action, and CGI effects - almost start to finish. Now the cons: ablatant ripoff of both Die Hard and Olympus Has Fallen (which was ablatant ripoff of Die Hard); the most implausible story EVER; theabsolute worst acting EVER with Jamie Foxx taking the lead. This movieshould be reason enough to finally burn that guy's SAG card once andfor all. And Channing Tatum, whom I normally like, was a close second.In fact, the only actor to give a good performance was the little girlwho played Tatum's daughter.

Believe the reviews you read here. They are not exaggerations. If youmust watch this, wait for Redbox!
